Private View: ‘After the Fire: Insurance, Finance & A Rebuilt City’

The Insurance Museum was delighted to welcome friends and supporters to an exclusive Private View of After the Fire: Insurance, Finance & A Rebuilt City on 8th October at the Bank of England Museum.

The evening brought together those who have helped support the Insurance Museum and its work to bring the fascinating history of insurance to wider audiences. Guests had the opportunity to explore the exhibition, meet fellow supporters and discover the extraordinary moment in the early 18th Century when modern insurance, global trade and central banking emerged in the City of London, reshaping the world and laying the foundations of today’s financial and insurance sectors.

Featuring an immersive illustrated streetscape by illustrator and printmaker Alice Pattullo and created in collaboration with mr.creative studio, the exhibition brings the world of London around 1700 to life.

A special thank you goes to Indico Data for sponsoring the evening and to the Bank of England Museum for hosting us and helping to make the event such a memorable one.

This exhibition marks an exciting milestone for the Insurance Museum, with plenty more to come as we continue to develop our plans for the future. There are several ways you can help us build on this momentum and support our work:

After the Fire: Insurance, Finance & A Rebuilt City is now open to the public and is free to visit until 27 November, Monday to Friday, 10am–5pm (last entry at 4.30pm). We also host a Museum Late on the third Thursday of each month, with opening hours extended until 8pm (last entry at 7.30pm), as well as special storytelling sessions on 28 and 29 October.
