The IM is constantly building up its networks, supporters and partners. In the City of London, it has very good connections, and internationally, it is building up a strong partnership around the world. The Museo dell’assicurazione in Milan is a museum and archive that has rich archives on insurance history. They go back into the medieval period, along with a unique collection of insurance advertising posters from the 19th and 20th centuries. These posters tell a story of social change over the two centuries. We are planning to work with them over the next year, so keep an eye out for some events.
Last month, in Mexico City, the CUSE Museum, Museum of Insurance Culture, was inaugurated. CUSE will become a cultural space whose task is to contribute to the transformation of social thinking in the face of the unexpected so that people can maintain their expectations of the future, promote a more informed citizenry, and be more aware of the risks we face over time. The Insurance Museum and all of us here in the UK congratulate the CUSE Museum and wish it the best of luck for the coming years. Hopefully, we will be able to collaborate with them in the future.
Finally, in early July, the Third Global Conference on the History of Risk and Insurance took place at the Department of Risk and Insurance, Warsaw School of Economics. The conference brought together scholars and professionals from around the world to explore the evolving role of insurance in society, from Renaissance Florence to the age of artificial intelligence. With a special focus on Central and Eastern Europe, participants examined the historical and contemporary dimensions of risk, insurance, and financial security through comparative and global lenses.
We couldn’t make it this year, but we are looking forward to the fourth conference and will certainly be there next year, hopefully presenting a paper. You can see a short film about the event here.
By joining up with international stakeholders, the Insurance Museum helps to nurture a new generation of insurance professionals who are internationally minded, historically aware, and better equipped to meet the challenges of an interconnected world.
If you would like to get involved you can join us here.
